About us

The Department of North European Countries at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Management of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, Poland, was established on March 1, 2010. Its research staff forms the only Social Sciences research center in Poland dedicated to studies on the Nordic states and the Far North. In 2017, our department initiated a Scandinavian Studies program, conducted entirely in English, at the UJK Faculty of Law, Administration and Management. Our main objective is to advance the program and make the department one of the leading research and teaching facilities in Central Europe. Objectives of the Program shall be pursued through the following actions:

TASKS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • Teaching students to equip them with unique skills and competencies
  • Undertaking unique research topics in a range of topics, such as: modernization, conflict management, development of social capital, competitiveness, the issues of the Baltic Sea States
  • Further development the knowledge base on Northern Europe (the Nordic Library Project)
  • Research and teaching cooperation with university centers in Northern Europe
